Create an asset record once, connect it to the right catalog creators, and keep every release easy to identify.

Add a new asset

An asset is the central record for something you own: its store link, license, creators, files, and release history stay together.

1. Create the record

Open New asset, then add a title. Add a description, tags, thumbnail, marketplace and store URL when they help identify the purchase.

2. Connect creators

Search the Creators field and choose an existing catalog name. For a new name, type it and press Enter; TailCache creates that catalog creator and links it to the asset when you save.

3. Save the asset

Select Create asset. The detail page is where you add downloadable files, organized under versions rather than attached directly to the asset.

Catalog behavior

How creators are linked

Creator names are shared catalog records, not private labels. Selecting a match links your asset to it; entering a new name creates a catalog record first, then links your asset to that record. You can associate more than one creator with an asset.

Release history

How versions work

Create

On the asset detail page, select Add Version. Give it a unique version name, such as 1.0 or 2026.07, and add optional release notes.

Upload

Upload one or more files inside that version. This keeps installers, source files, and notes for a release together while older releases remain easy to find.

Update

For a later release, add another version instead of replacing the record. Version names must be unique within an asset. Creator-linked copies are updated by syncing from the creator, so they do not accept local versions.
